Pride and Prejudice

I'm reading Pride and Prejudice in Novel class right now, a novel whcih my instructor frequently touts as "the best novel written in Engligh". Do I agree? No. And frankly I'm getting tired of lectures where he is far too proud of Jane Austens great literary acomplishment, and far too prejudice about the (in my opinion) paltry social commentary the novel makes.
